Dear Families,

What do a sheep, duck, and rooster have in common? On September 1783, the Montgolfier brothers sent a duck, a sheep, and a rooster into the air to test their hot air balloon design. The animals were the world’s first air passengers! The students in room 6 are currently traveling to London, England where we will be exploring and learning more about air travel and the first hot air balloons. We will also have many other exciting adventures, experiences and opportunities to learn and grow throughout the year. We will be using our communication devices, pictures and symbols to share what we’ve learned with our friends along the way. We look forward to a fun and amazing school year!

I would like to take this opportunity to give you a brief overview about myself. I’ve worked with the intermediate students here at J. P. Lord for the last four years. Prior to that, I taught 5th grade at St. James Parochial School, resource at Joan of Arc Parochial School, and special education in in a K-3 building. I was a stay at home mom for several years and a substitute teacher for OPS before coming to J.P. Lord to teach full time. My husband Tim and I have four children. Mariel is a senior, Max is a sophomore, Liza is a freshman at Roncalli High School and Will is in 6th grade at St. James. They love sports and other extracurricular activities so we stay busy getting them to all their competitions, practices, and attending all of their various events.

I look forward to working with you throughout the coming year and I am confident that together we can provide the support and encouragement needed to help your child excel. If you have any questions now or at any time in the future, don’t hesitate to contact me at school at (402)-554-6771 or by e-mail at molly.sprakel@ops.org

Once again, welcome to Room 6!  I know that, together, we can make this a wonderful school year!

Sincerely,

Molly Sprakel
